- Καϊάφας, α, ὁ (also as v.l. Καϊαφᾶς and Καϊφᾶς) Caiaphas (Jos., Ant. 18, 35; 95; Mel., P. 93, 705 [Καιφας B]), high priest 18–36 A.D. who played an important role in the condemnation of Jesus. Cp.
